A tutu, too?

I whipped this little gem up the other night. So simple, and it provides so much pleasure of this little gal! I found a super easy no-sew tutorial on line, which you can find here. I'm sure any young (or old for that matter) girl would love to add this to her dress up collection. Anna and I made one for "Tebby" her little doll a couple of days ago. It was a big hit. This would be a darling favor for a birthday party or you could change up the colors and make a Christmas or Halloween tutu. The possibilities are endless.

Happy no-sewing! I know you want one now.

Make Way for Mckinlay!

It feels so incredibly fall-ish here in Boston and we are loving it! I've worn a jacket for the past three days. This is my favorite time of year and I am dreaming about all the fun things that fall brings--hot cocoa, holidays, fall leaves, snuggles, yummy food...I'm smiling just thinking about it! I had a big mug of hot chocolate the other day, just to celebrate the beginning of it all!
Today a bunch of us headed down to the Public Garden to ride the swan boats. Mckinlay and I were first time swan riders and we would totally recommend it. What a fun way to enjoy the Garden! I have forgotten how much I like going there and how pretty it is. Mckinlay loved the ride. Not sure she really realized she was on a boat, but I think that fact that she had friends sitting behind her and that she could stand up on the benches was enough (I'd like to say that she is not looking at the camera because she is looking at the swans or ducks...but really, I think she is just too into the bench).

And for those of you who were wondering--the swan's names are Romeo and Juliette. And yes, when they put their heads together, their necks do make a heart. Precious.
And what would a trip to the Public Garden be without stopping at the ducklings!? This is either Jack, Kack, Lack, Mack, Nack, Ouack, Pack, or Quack from "Make Way For Ducklings." Remember how that cute story takes place on the busy streets of downtown Boston? It is quickly becoming one of Mckinlay's favorites books.
Looks like Mckinlay is waiting for the little duckling to say something. I guess she doesn't quite get the concept of statues yet. But by the looks of it, I think Pauly does.

Dr. Loveless

Well, almost. Today was Ty's, much anticipated, very first patient day in the clinic! He even has the sprinkling of muck on his scrubs to prove it (I tried to greet him with a huge hug when he got home last night, but he told me I should wait until he "de-muckafies.")!The most important thing he learned today was not to give himself a time limit. His patient asked how long the appointment would be and Ty told him 2 hours...oopsie! Try almost 4. But it's a student clinic. It's always gonna take longer than expected. Ty's never done ANY dental work on patients yet(hopefully they are not fully aware of that fact) and every step has to be passed off by his instructors. Does anyone have any hints on how to make small talk? I'm sure Ty would appreciate any tips, or interesting facts he could bring up to entertain his patients while waiting.

Here is Ty's newest patient. She has gotten 4 teeth in the past 2 weeks. Maybe that explains why some of our days recently have begun at 4:30!? Wahoo for teeth!
Say goodbye to the "gummy grandma" smile (Sorry Mom. Now that she is a grandma she takes slight offense at "grandma" comments like that. You know when I say that, I'm talking about "grandma grandmas" right mom?)!

*****update-make that six teeth as of Wednesday*****

"Senoritas and Margaritas?"... Well, maybe just Senoritas

We definitely had the cutest Senorita at the annual (hopefully) class bbq at Fernando's house in Westfield. Good friends, good food, a pool and cute babies.

Why yes, yes I am.

Yup. I too have fallen in love with Edward Cullin. What is it about him? My goodness he is alluring! At first I was so frustrated with how he always seemed to get his way, but then the more I got into the book--I think I would have been equally submissive. Is that the weak human in me coming out? Or an illustration of his tantalizing powers? Maybe I'll never know...

The other night I admitted to Ty that I had a crush on a vampire. I think he thought I was nuts.

But I am a big sucker for teen romance. Give me a teen movie or book any day (If you crave the occasional teen romance, I totally recommend "The Unlikely Romance of Kate Bjorkman." Breezy introduced it to me--big fan). I'm just glad I have two more books to go so my not-so-secret affair with Edward can last a little longer. "Be safe." *sigh*

"New Moon" begins tonight.

Am I gonna love me some vampire?

I can't wait for nap time. This is what awaits me:
It's time to see what all the hullabaloo is about. I'll keep you posted...

Beach Bums

Today was the perfect beach day. Sunny, not too humid and temperatures in the 80's, so we decided to head to Revere Beach (which FYI is the very first public beach in the United States). This was Mckinlay's first beach/sand experience and it was a definite hit.
I'm not sure who had more fun,--her playing in the sand, us taking pictures, or the girls by us who couldn't stop talking about her.

A Standing Ovation

Last night was "Movie Night" for our August themed FHE. After we put Mckinlay down we watched Deja Vu and The Holiday. It was so fun to have a movie double-header and for Ty to watch a movie with out feeling he really should be studying. So far, we're loving 3rd year!! Ty said the other day that this is the first time, in a long time, that he is excited to go to school every day.

I know the "F" in "FHE" stands for family, so I'll have you know we watched Baby Neptune before putting Mckinlay down. And lucky girl had her buddy Pauly come down and watch part of it with her!On another note--just when we thought we had nap time all figured out, Mckinlay throws a wrench in. When I went in to get here this morning, here is how I found here:
Now instead of crib = sleep, crib = jungle gym. She fell asleep in the car today and I managed to keep her somewhat asleep while carrying her in the house, but as soon as I put her down, she was wide awake and climbing. Sweet. I guess we'll be lowering the crib mattress tonight.

A couple hours later...

Well today sure has been a milestone day!! Thought I'd add this video 'cause someone decided it was time to crawl!

Kimball Farms

Note to self: Next time consider ordering something larger than a "small" since they are SO stingy with the portions...
