Celebrating St. Lucia Day is one of my vary favorite traditions. I think it's because it's a tradition I got my family to start when I was a little girl -- and now I get to do it with my little girls.
As usual, after we eat breakfast, Jultomten brings us our Christmas ornaments and poem. Here are this years poems:
Hazel (Baby's 1st Christmas ornament):
She eats, she
sleeps, she poops & lots of drool!
Our Hazel-bop is
usually in a pool…
But her big
bright eyes & smile will light up your day!
“Happy 1st
Christmas sweet girl!” is what we will say.
Eliza (Ballerina):
She leaps &
prances & grooves & turns,
For dance class
day Eliza yearns.
To her teacher’s
door she will always run.
This year of
“dance cwass” has been so much fun!
Mckinlay (Owl):
Our Kindergartner is totally loving
school!
Her classmates
this she is pretty cool!
Like an owl she
is wise & and super smart,
That’s why she
loves them with all of her heart!
Meghan (Owl with glasses -- from Ty & an angel -- from Mckinlay):
Foxes & Owls & librarian's glasses too;
staying in style is not easy to do.
But for Meghan, our Mom, it's not a prob;
Like and angel she works and easily fills the job.
- written by Ty
and
You are an angel shout Hooray!
We want to sing to you today!
- written by Mckinlay
Ty (Reeses):
Ty is busy with
nary a break.
He works so hard
for goodness sake!
When he gets a
chance he’ll always grab candy.
…Good thing the
gift shop is close and handy!
This year was extra special because Mckinlay go to dress up as St. Lucia for her class. Her class is so cute! She came up to the front in her costume and everyone said "Wow! You look so pretty!" It was so sweet!
I got to talk about our St. Lucia tradition. We all eat cinnamon rolls and chocolate milk (after Mckinlay said "St. Lucia invites you to breakfast."). Jultomten even wrote a special poem for the class and they all got a sparkly Christmas ornament. It was lots of fun!
