Mckinlay and I were able to go to Hawaii for Grandpa's funeral. We spent a wonderful week there filled with family. It worked out that all of the aunts, uncles and grandchildren (minus Jill who is pregnant with twins!) were able to be there. We haven't had a Hallstom gathering like this is years. We eat KFC, Chinese food, strawberry soda, Uncle Jim's ribs (YUM!) and of course hot fudge sundaes. All the traditional Hallstrom dishes. I can't think of a better way to honor Grandpa.

Mckinlay and I flew straight into Cleveland where we met up with Ty so we could go house hunting. We put in a offer on a home that was accepted! We're so excited! Cross you fingers everything goes smoothly with the rest of the process. We feel so blessed to have found such a great home.
Now we're back in Boston. I just pulled out my calendar and was shocked to see that we are moving in 9 weeks! I can't believe it is coming so soon!
I'll try not to think about it...
Hooray!! I'm so excited that you guys found a house! Any pics?....
ReplyDeleteIt was a very special time wasn't it?!...and what better way to celebrate Grandpa's life than with the food he liked most! I'll bet he and Grandma loved watching all of us together!
ReplyDeletewoah, meghan! what a whirlwind! hawaii was probably such a welcome treat at this dreary spring-will-never-come time of year. and a house? so exciting. and nerve wracking, too, isn't it? can't wait to hear all the details about it. what's ty doing in cleveland right now?
ReplyDeleteAh, I don't see any mustaches. I guess grandpa Halstrom's funeral was a worthy reason to be respectable. Sounds like that was a really neat gathering... reminds me a tad of when Grandma McKinlay passed away last fall, there were so many people gathered from that side of the family that han'd been together in a long time. Amazing how the passing of a loved one can bring people closer together like that.
ReplyDelete(And I'm just a little jealous of the Hawaii trip in general... can't wait to go back.)
Hey Megs,
ReplyDeleteGlad you had fun in Hawaii, and congrats on the house. I am really excited for you guys. I just tried to give you a call to tell you how excited I was for you. I took a look at it, and it is so cute. I imagine you will have a lot of fun decorating it.
