Food, Folks and Fabio

We had our first annual (ha ha! nobody can move now!) Relief Society presidency Christmas party on Saturday night. All I can say is "hooray for such a fun group of girls." And this time our husbands (minus Kurt) got to join in on the fun. We had a delicious dinner and a white elephant swap. And let me tell you, the gifts were good. Here is what everyone ended up with:Megan got a book with pictures of the ugliest/freakiest/fattest (etc.) cats you have ever seen in your life and Josh got an electric ice scrapper, which is the gift that he brought. The jury is still out on whether or not that is allowed.
Rich got Buns of Steel, Legs of Steel, his and her embroidered sweat towels AND peanut butter chocolate pretzels to boot. And Rethsey--she got a sitsbath. That one is WAY more high tech than the one I got at the hospital. We were trying to come up with alternate uses for it until the time comes when she will actually need to use it for its intended purpose. So far the best options are a fruit bowl and a hat. Let me know if you can think of anything else.
Kristen is modeling her lovely, and stinky, "save the children Bolivia" vest which she got along with some exotic lotion and the Colb-ster ended up with one of the two coveted Burdicks hot chocolate mixes. (Yumm-ers!)
Ty got "Bad Baby" a book of hilarious baby pictures, while I scored a "beverage buddie" and a pig bobble head. Awesome.
Last, but certainly not least, Jenn hit the jack pot. She got a bottle of wine (which she gave to me for my birthday as a joke, so I figured the Relief Society was a good place to re-gift it, right?), cinnamon scented candles and (dang that stupid glare!) "Fabio After Dark" (A CD that includes such gems as "Fabio: on inner beauty"). Even though Kurt wasn't able to make it to the party, he got the other hot chocolate mix, but even with out that, he still would have been a winner with Jenn's new Fabio CD...

Thanks guys for such a fun night. Harmon's, we are so sad you are leaving and you will be greatly missed. But start collecting gifts for next year, I think we can find it in the ward budget to bring you back for our party. And while were at it, Leiningers do you want to come back too?

  2. i think "beast-like" is appropriate when you are holding a fabio cd. ("rarr") and i think it's a cute picture! i think i said to myself, "jenn will be happy that i am posting such a cute picture of her." guess i was wrong...
but i totally know what you mean. i have seen too many bad pictures of myself, that i think it might be a true reflection. yikes. let's just stick with the bad picture excuse.

  4. Looks like a fun party. What are you plans for Christmas? Are you coming home? Does your little one get into opening the gifts yet? Holidays are so much more fun with kids.

  5. Meghan! I was so excited to see your post. I saw your blog while looking at Suzanna's blog. Your family is so cute! How jealous am I that you live in Boston?!?! That is one place I have always wanted to go. How do you like it? Where is your husband going to school? It was so great hearing from you. Your family looks very happy. Are you able to come home for Christmas? Thanks for saying Hi!

  7. Hi guys,

I am feeling somewhat out of it tonight. I have been stuck at work waiting for projects to get finished (this is normal), and in the mean time I have been looking through friend's and family's blogs. I didn't realize there was so much going on. ( : I have got to get Spence and I a blog. They are so fun and I have loved reading all the stories etc...
Meg's, I now know what you are going to get us if we have a baby boy. i don't know what to think about the wee wee tee pee. I guess I want the camo print too.
I love you guys and can't wait to see you at Christmas!

  9. Maybe I'm late on this one, but your bangs look so cute! What a fun party. White Elephants are so funny, our parents always have pretty good ones at their parties too.
